Job Title: Executive Director

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000

TEAM Wellness & Prevention is a non-profit organization that empowers youth to live healthy and vibrant lives free of substance misuse and dependency.


Position Description: The Executive Director is the chief administrator with overall responsibilities for the day to day management of the organization’s operations within the governance and policy structure established by the Board of Directors.  The Executive Director is the visionary leader, providing strategic direction and management of all TEAM Wellness & Prevention activities. He/she meets with donors and prospective donors to create and foster relationships. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible to and serves at the pleasure of the Board. He/she serves as a principal representative to the media and the community.



  •  Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor development, and grant writing

  • 5 years’ experience as an ED or similar position

  • Demonstrated success working with a Board of Directors

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures

  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to set and achieve objectives, manage a budget, and supervise staff

  • Commitment to TEAM Wellness & Prevention’ mission, quality programming, and data-driven program evaluation

  • An action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning

  • Proven skill in financial management, preferably for a non-profit

  • Demonstrated success in effectively leading change and organizational growth through strategic planning

  • Proficient in computer technology

  • Maturity and professionalism in interpersonal relationships

  • Conflict resolution skills

  • Experience building and maintaining a volunteer base of individuals not already serving the organization


Job Responsibilities


Strategy and Planning

  • Takes a leadership role that results in the development of goals, objectives, and operational plans for the organization. Oversees preparation of the annual budget and other necessary financial documents. Provides information and justifications for Board of Directors in its budgetary review and approval process.

  • May participate on standing and/or ad hoc committees at the request of the Board.


Accountable to the Board of Directors

  • Participates in Board of Director monthly meetings as a non-voting member.

  • Regularly communicates programming events and activities to the Board of Directors.

  • Solicits feedback from the Board of Directors on organizational direction.


Organizational Management

  • Ensures the organization has a diverse staff with skills appropriate to the needs of the position through people management activities, including hiring, separation of employment, ongoing staff development, performance management, compensation, and benefits.

  • Recognizes the strengths of individual staff members and maximizes staff potential by ensuring that responsibilities align with strengths.

  • Possesses the ability to appropriately delegate tasks and empower staff to work effectively toward continual improvement.


Fund Development and Management

  • Manages all fund development activities, including cultivation and stewardship of donors, identifying new resources, event planning, and grant writing.

  • Actively seeks and maintains a diverse donor base of individuals, businesses, foundations, and government entities.

  • Leads organization’s financial growth in order to maintain healthy cash flow and adequate reserves to support Board-approved investments.

  • Provides oversight for sound fiscal management.


Public Relations/Advocacy

  • Actively engages and energizes funders, partnering organizations, event committees, and volunteers.

  • Promotes TEAM Wellness & Prevention’ visibility through participation in activities that are aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.

  • Provides education to the general public regarding TEAM Wellness & Prevention’ services, resources, funding opportunities, financial needs, and volunteer opportunities.

  • Develops a strategic marketing plan that provides a clear and concise message telling the organization’s story. Serves as official spokesperson, representing TEAM Wellness & Prevention in all media relations by participating in interviews, developing press releases, and overseeing all other media type engagements including social media.

Program Development and Implementation

  • Oversees and supports the development, design, and delivery of program initiatives, assuring that the goals and objectives align with TEAM Wellness & Prevention’ overall strategic plan and mission.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field of substance abuse prevention.
