Job Title: Evaluation Director/Grant Writer

Salary: 1 FTE at $50,000/year

Team Wellness and Prevention is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles through the prevention of substance use.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Evaluation Specialist will coordinate all program evaluation efforts to meet in-house and grant reporting requirements; share findings in written and verbal communications identify and respond to government grant proposals; work with director-level staff to ensure evaluation needs are met; The Evaluation Specialist reports directly to the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher with focus on social science research methods or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • Understanding of behavioral health Issues and the role of prevention
  • 1 – 3 years work experience in quantitative data management, analysis, and interpretation
  • Some experience in qualitative data management, analysis, and interpretation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to TEAM Wellness and Prevention mission  
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and social media
  • Proficient in SPSS or other statistics software package
  • Familiarity with Smartsheets Project Management software, a plus
  • Maturity and professionalism in interpersonal relationships
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Evaluation

  • Understanding of the organization’s programming efforts and goals
  • Monitor existing process data collection efforts
  • Provide program staff support for process data collection activities
  • Ensure data collection protocols are responsive to needs of program staff
  • Modify data collection activities, as needed
  • Maintain evaluation files on shared drive
  • Make process and outcome data available to program staff on agreed-upon timeline
  • Satisfy all grant reporting requirements
  • Develop and maintain evaluation and data analysis plans

Data Collection Expertise

  • Possess and exercise sound sampling methodologies
  • Possess and exercise sound data collection methodologies
  • Experience collecting primary data using a variety of platforms (paper/pencil, online survey, focus groups, etc.)
  • Expertise in survey development
  • Experience accessing secondary data
  • Experience gauging the integrity of secondary data
  • Advise Director- and Specialist-level staff on program-evaluation issues
  • Ability to plan and orchestrate community needs assessments, per grant requirements

Data Processing, Analysis, and Interpretation

  • Obtain understanding of TEAM’s past and planned data collection efforts
  • Organize and clean data in Excel and SPSS or other preferred statistical software package
  • Use Excel pivot tables and slicers to make program evaluation data accessible to program staff
  • Interpret data and quantify need
  • Communicate findings in verbal and written form
  • Provide on-going support to project/grant/program coordinators/managers for deadlines related to evaluation needs

Grant Management

  • Identify government grants to  address substance use prevention efforts
  • Coordinate with other Director-level staff to identify programming and funding needs
  • Respond to request for proposals
  • Oversee all government grant reporting requirements
  • Interface with grant-appointed, evaluation technical assistance

Professional Development

  • Attend Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training within six months of    hire
  • If do not already possess Colorado Certified Prevention Specialist Certificate (CCPS), develop timeline to obtain within two years
  • Attend Colorado Department Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Risk and Protective Factor Conference
  • Identify and attend other relevant professional development opportunities to satisfy the education              requirements of the CCPS

Innovate

  • Advise on new data collection efforts
  • Promote variety of data collection tools, such as, online survey tools, google analytics, focus groups, etc. to        facilitate organization goals
